Part of Colin's science grade at school was the submission of an invention into the Invent Idaho Invention Convention. He was partnered up with a gal named Lucy and they worked on one of Colin's many ideas - the Fruit Capture. He came up with the idea after having to spend the summer picking up all the fruit off his grandma and grandpa's lawn that had fallen from their fruit trees. It was not a job he enjoyed very much! He wanted to make a contraption that you could hook on and around the trees that would catch the fruit and siphon them down into a basket around the base of the tree. Together with Lucy, they created a model, a journal and a poster board that got 1st place at the school level and then again at the regional level, so off to state we went.
The convention was held at the Discovery Center in Boise - what a fun place! After spending two days playing with all the exhibits they had, we attended the awards ceremony where Colin's invention got 3rd place in the working model category. I am so proud of him!! He's already working on his submission for next year!

We also had the opportunity to spend some time with Alicia and Emma - always a treat!! Emma just LOVES this Elmo fire truck at WalMart!! They may have to get one!!
